I'm a veteran storyteller in sound, images and words. As much as I enjoy working with audio, earlier this decade I had the time of my life editing and writing for the tiny Daily World in Opelousas, Louisiana – my parents’ ancestral state and the birthplace of zydeco music and dancing (my joys, alongside jazz, classical, roots, folk and the Great American Songbook/Songbag).
I edited the audio version of the Reveal investigation “All Work, No Pay” by Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting, a finalist in the 2018 Pulitzer Prize national reporting category. As an editor and reporter I've covered all kinds of stories and shared in three Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Awards.
As my literary lodestar Lorraine Hansberry wrote, "the world concerns me." Education, work and life have taken me to South Africa, Cuba, Japan, Vietnam, China, France, England, Canada, Sweden, Venezuela, Mexico and all over the United States. Now I'm based within 10 miles of Oakland, California, where I was born. Thanks for stopping by!
